A little zoo time...

The first glimpse of warm weather and we're off to the zoo.  It's been so rainy, the kids have been cooped up, everyone is recovering from the flu going through our house, we had to get out!!!  We all needed the fresh air, especially this Momma!

Evelyn is going through a phase where she always wants me to take her picture and she loves to pose.

Baby Kindi is two years old now!  The girls love to watch the baby gorilla.  (Mom looks like she's on the phone)

Scarlet likes to yell at David

Scarlet LOVES this book about David.  She wants to read it every night.  She loves to yell at the naughty boy in the story.

It's....it's.....it's..... the FLU!!

Yup, this vaccinated family got the flu.  I tried so hard to avoid it this season but we caught it.  Thank goodness for the flu shot because our symptoms were very mild.  Unfortunately, baby Joseph was too young for the shot so we got him started on medication at the very first signs so we actually came out of it pretty unscathed.  The only people who didn't get it was Daddy and Evelyn....

Scarlet was the first one to get sick...

Doesn't this look like a kid who has the flu??  The flu shot works wonders!  She had mild symptoms for 6 days before I finally took her to the doctor!!  She was sick but doing so well, just not really improving.  I couldn't believe it!  She got started on medication and was better in less than 48hrs.
Poor girl needed her blankie at the doctor's office

Joseph got hit second with the flu.  No shot for this little guy but I started him on medication at the first teeny sign of sickness so he bounced back quickly.  He was sick for about 36hrs

Lorelai was sent home from school the day after Joseph got sick.  When kids are ill, it's a movie kind of day.  Evelyn benefits even though she was never sick.  I put a sheet on the couch and told Evelyn she wasn't allowed on the "sick couch".

All smiles!

This boy makes my heart melt.  I love his smiles!

Helmet head...

At 2 months old Joseph was diagnosed with plagiocephaly.  Basically, the short version is that when he was born he had some tight neck muscles due to the way he was laying inside me and it caused him to prefer to face left ALL THE TIME.  This resulted in his head starting to get a flat spot on the left side of the back of his head.  This is called plagiocephaly.  We tried to fix it with conservative methods first but nothing was helping so we are going the more extreme route and he is now wearing a helmet.  This helmet is specifically made for his head and will help round out his head as he grows.  He will most likely wear this for 2-3 months.  The good news is, it's entirely cosmetic.  The bad news is this means insurance doesn't pay for it.  We felt it was important to try to round out his head because he's a boy, so it's more difficult to cover up the shape of his head with hair....and the elephant in the room is the fact that he may just not have that much hair like his Daddy.

Well, we got the helmet last week and he's doing really well with it!  However, this Momma just could not stare at that big, white dome for months.  It had to be decorated!  So I picked up some acrylic paint, mod podge sealant, and some decals and got to work...  Now he's an adorable little aviator!

He doesn't seem to mind the helmet at all. Which is good because he has to wear it 23hrs a day!

...beginning the base layer of paint and letting it dry

...base layer is done.  At this point it looks like an old, leather football helmet.

Now for the decals and to seal it all up

TOO CUTE!

Scarlet is such a Momma...

I've said before that Scarlet loves her baby dolls and that statement continues to ring true!  It's probably her favorite thing to play with.

Warm weather!

We had some warm, windy weather and we're all feeling a bit cooped up. Time to get outside!

Something about this picture disturbs me.  Evelyn is hanging out of a creepy clown
