Moving...

Apologies for the lack of posts. We are in the middle of moving to our next duty station and I don't even have access to my computer right now. This has been a stressful move. Joe's been away taking his boards leaving me to deal with the kids and the movers. Currently, he's in Kentucky getting things settled and I'll join him with the girls and pets next week. And I just got word that the movers have lost part of our household goods!  Stressful to say the least. I'm looking forward to feeling settled again. I'll update when I can.

July wrap up...

Some pictures to wrap up July...

Lorelai is trying to read Evelyn a story....Evelyn is not cooperating

Why can't she sit in a chair like a normal person?

Popscicles!

Strutting out with her purse and her baby...

Praticing being a Mom.  Baby in one hand...sweeping with the other

This child loves to sweep.  I need to get her a broom her size.

Birthday parties!

The girls were invited to a friend's birthday pool party.  They love swimming and had so much fun!  It's so difficult to get these girls OUT of the water.

getting ready for the water

Lorelai is taking a swing at the pinata

All that baseball in the backyard pays off!

Lorelai and Evelyn with the birthday girl

Swimming with friends!

No fear!  This girl leaps into the water.  You have to watch out for her when she jumps in.  She gives no warning!  If you aren't paying attention you won't catch her in time.

Birthday party snacks!

This girl is.......TROUBLE!

Evelyn is trouble...simple as that.  I can't turn my back on this one for a second.  Lorelai was not anywhere near this difficult.  I'm constantly fearful that she's really going to hurt herself one day and we've child-proofed as much as we can.  One of her favorite things to do is climb.  We've had to bolt the bookcases to the walls because she was trying to climb them.  All of her dresser drawers have child locks but that doesn't keep her from climbing up the furniture using the knobs!  A few weeks ago she decided that standing on the arm of the couch to catapult onto the cushions was a good idea (until she fell backward onto the tile floor).  When she does get hurt, she barely slows down....she doesn't have the dramatics that her older sister has....

I told Evelyn it was time for nap and we needed to change her diaper.  She ran ahead of me into her room and by the time I entered, this is what I found.

You can tell she's done this before.  Probably when she's supposed to be napping

Made it to the top

And it seems that she wanted to feed the cats...

backyard pool time

Water always wears the girls out which makes for a happy Momma, so I try to do water activities with the girls whenever I can....even if it's just in our backyard.

Fill 'er up, Lorelai!

Happy girls

Ferocious Beast!

Addie...my mighty protector....scared of a............BALLOON.  The shark balloon that we brought home from the aquarium is really making her skittish.  As soon as she saw it, her hair went up and she started barking at it.  Too bad this was during naptime!

Evelyn's 2nd Birthday!

We celebrated Evelyn's birthday a little early.  With our move coming up and Joe still studying like a madman, it just seemed easier.  Those who have been around Evelyn lately know that she's a crazy climber.  She has no fear, and loves to run and climb on furniture. I'm convinced she's part mountain goat!  We planned her party at the Iguana Jump at the San Antonio Aquarium.  I've made a post about this place before so it may sound familiar.  It's a giant room filled with all different kinds of jump houses.  Some are slides, some are obstacle courses, and some are ball pits.  Evelyn had a blast!  I've never seen her so happy!!  What better place to have this crazy girl's party than to essentially enclose her in a padded room and let her go nuts!

I am very proud of my Minnie cake.  I'm determined to make my kids' birthday cakes, just like my Mom always did for me.  I love this tradition

It is difficult to take pictures in a bouncy house.  Too many moving objects

Big smile!

Evelyn with her friend Mia

Our little climber is going up the big slide all by herself

At the top and so proud of herself

Ok this is a terribly blurry picture but she flies down the slide so fast, it's impossible to catch a good shot.  She has no fear!  At one point she jumped from the top and landed near the bottom like a stunt double.  Can't she slide like normal children??

Playing with friends

Lorelai and the girls are bouncing around

Flying down the slides

"Come on Daddy!  It's fun!"

Biggest smile

I love this picture because you can see Daddy peeking through in the back

Going through the obstacle course play area

Climbing with her sister

"Mommy, I see you!  I'm almost out."

Falling over in laughter

headfirst!

This is the cutest picture.  When we all started to sing to Evelyn, she looked around astonished at everyone singing at HER!  It is clear that in this house Lorelai is louder and demands attention.  Evelyn enjoyed the attention on her for a change.

When you end a party like this....I consider it a SUCCESS!

June wrap up...

Some pictures from June...

Practicing for a new baby sister...

Lorelai has tucked her animals into bed at her naptime

Coloring time.  Lorelai will sit quietly and color for quite a while.  Evelyn colors for about 90 seconds and then experiments with different ways to throw the crayons on the ground.  Two, very different children.

This is how I found Evelyn prior to naptime

Evelyn is excited to use the DVD player because she knows it belongs to Lorelai.  May be time to get Evelyn her own.  Lorelai is still napping and Evelyn loves touching her things...

Ok, this is another brag picture.  I am constantly amazed at how Lorelai follows directions.  I bought her a preschool workbook to prepare for school.  I told her the directions on this page and sent her to the kitchen table and told her to just tell me when she was done.  She came back with her work all completed and correct!!  So good!

No she is not in timeout...she is giving some attitude and just doesn't want to look at her Momma right now
