Fall Y’all

The kids are ready to dress up. They've been itching to put on their costumes.  One of the nearby churches was having a Fall Y'all Festival.  There was trunk-or-treating, hayrides, inflatables, snacks, a petting zoo, and more!  Our Halloween costumes have a theme this year and it all started with Evelyn.  She decided first that she wanted to be a zookeeper, and the rest of us decided that shee needed some animals to look after...

Our zookeeper.  She's in charge of this wild bunch!

Joseph liked being a cobra because it kind of looked like a ninja.

Lorelai wanted to be a beautiful butterfly

Lego club

One Wednesday a month, the nearby library has a homeschool Lego Club.  Each day they have a theme, the children build and the creations are displayed for the entire month!  This month's theme was "Autumn".

Evelyn began by building a pumpkin...

She soon tired of just the pumpkin and she added a home around it.  She claimed that the pumpkin was a jumping mat inside the home, next to the "armory" of weapons and gear.

Scarlet worked on a haunted house, inhabited by the skeleton she found

Lorelai built a hayride and pumpkin patch

I asked Joseph, "What are you building that's autumn?"  He said he was building a cannon with a robot to carry it.  After seeing Lorelai's pumpkin patch, he decided to add a pumpkin patch as well and report that his robot carries the pumpkins.

All creations on display!

Joseph read his first words!

My biggest concern with homsechool is making sure my kids can read, and read WELL.  Joseph is still in preschool and will begin kindergarten next year.  He is currently mastering letter recognition and letter sounds.  I thought it was too soon to begin word families but he picked it up so fast!  He totally got it!  I am so proud of this boy!

Lyon Farms

Lyon Family Farm pumpkin patch was a hit!  There was so much to do, we didn't even come close to doing it all.

Zipline fun!

The biggest corn pit we've ever seen!

Just finished the giant, Betty White themed corn maze.  Doing a corn maze in the dark is NO JOKE!

The kids have not seen fireworks for three years!  We couldn't have fireworks in Colorado due to forest fire risks.

Joseph loved the Rat Race barrels

Extracurriculars

The kids are loving being back in their extracurriculars...
