Bye training wheels!

Scarlet has finally mustered the courage to ride her bike without training wheels.  You can’t force this girl to do anything she isn’t ready to do!  Well, she was SO ready that she learned in less than 15 minutes and she can now zip all over the driveway.

Playtime with pups...

Joseph thinks that because he's older than Bruno, he's stronger too.  You can't argue with that logic!  Points for Duchess for trying to help in this situation...

Always reading...

I have always said the most important part of education is learning to read.  We make sure to practice reading with Scarlet every single day and she's really improving. She has been getting more confidence and wanted a video of her reading so she could watch herself.

School’s in session…

We are making preparations to homeschool next year. The curriculum for the older kids is pretty set, but at the preschool age Joseph needs more visual aids etc which I’ve been working on. He loves it!  We have another whole year of preschool but we are starting early with some lessons. I’m letting the kids finish out the year with their school and friends before we begin.

When Joseph is learning his letters, what better way to start than his name!

I made this handout for Joseph and for Scarlet....but Evelyn likes it too!

My little ski date...

All the kids have been in ski lessons this season.  This is Scarlet's and Joseph's first season because they were too young last year and there were limited classes offered.  Scarlet's doing amazing but Joseph just wasn't progressing as well as I'd like.  I think, because of his age, he's stuck with a bunch of little kids who want snack breaks, potty breaks, cry for their moms, etc.  He is doing well, just progressing slowly.  So, we decided to have some extra family ski days and I worked with him one-on-one while Joe skied with the girls.

Now, he's amazing!  This past Tuesday, with Dad at work and the girls at school, we ditched our normal routine and chores at home and had a ski date on the mountain.  Just Joseph and me.  He only has school on M/W/F so it was easy to do.  He has progressed so much and it was such a special day for us.  I can't describe how I will treasure the memories made this day...

Snow days...

It's been a rather dry winter.  At the start of January, we saw 6 straight weeks of no snow!  Now, it's March, and the snow keeps coming...

Leaning Tower of Evelyn!

Keva Planks are a great toy for kids.  It amuses them forever!  Evelyn's favorite thing to do is to see how tall of a tower she can make.  It's getting near bedtime and she's a bit giggly because Duchess was watching her every move...  Watch her progress.  Videos below as well...

Duchess keeps an eye on things

She was asking me to bring out the BIG ladder from the garage...

She made a ROBOT!

The girls had a Girl Scout meeting after school.  Scarlet's group earned their Robot Badges by making their own robots!  She is so proud of it.  Scarlet has named him "Lil' Sweeper".  She says he can sweep my house but I told her maybe he should stick to her doll house floors.  Video below...

February wrap-up…

 Pictures from February...

Look at these girl scouts.  This year Lorelai is a Junior Girl Scout, Evelyn a Brownie, and Scarlet is a Daisy.  Evelyn wasn't here today because she had a special skiing playdate but her two sisters are hard at work selling cookies at Daddy's office.  These nurses know how to snack!

On February 9th Duchess turned 3 months old.

Girls are at school so Joseph gets one-on-one kinetic sand time with Mom

A rare, sweet big sister moment.  Lorelai wanted to read Joseph his bedtime story

A walk in our snowy meadow

The dog bed is getting crowded

Always snuggling together (and yes, she's supposed to be this skinny)

A picturesque sleigh ride with friends and Apple Jacks to keep us warm!

The stomach bug has hit the Dai Family...

It's a good thing this family is equipped with it's own nurse for these situations
