A very enjoyable weekend spent in the sunshine! It was filled with playgrounds, strawberries, splash pads and more!
Spent the day at a strawberry festival and the girls spent the morning snacking. But that wasn't enough for Evelyn. We stopped to have lunch and after devouring hers, snacking on Lorelai's leftovers, stealing food off of Mom and Dad's plate, she's now eating the baby's food. She must be going through a growth spurt.
Home after the festival... these girls are going to be chowing down on strawberries for a while! DELCIOUS!
First day this year at the Zoo's splash pad. It was a very hot, humid day!
This baby is so chill. As long as his belly is full he just loves to enjoy watching his sisters run all around.
Joseph is finally starting to figure out his walker. He used to just sit in it and play or occasionally he'd accidentally scoot backwards... But now he understands he can get from point A to point B and he is elated he can travel around like a big boy!
He's so proud of himself. You can see it on his face!
A mobile baby means trouble, trouble, TROUBLE! This little boy is getting into everything and finding himself in some sticky situations...
I don't even know how he got back there...
This picture was actually taken before he was even crawling. It's amazing how he can get around just by scooting. He was playing on the carpet in the livingroom while I did the dishes. Well, I guess he went exploring and looking for his Mommy. He found me!
I am so proud of these girls. They did amazing at the Horse Show this year. Evelyn is still in the "Short Stirrup" program. This is mostly due to her age. During her lessons she's one-to-one with a private instructor for safety reasons. But, she has greatly improved and can control her horse by herself now.
The short stirrup program was split into two groups for the show: those on a lead line, and those that can walk and trot without assistance. During the show they still had an older kid assigned to them just in case they needed assistance but Evelyn was in the walk/trot group and controlled the horse on her own.
Lorelai moved up from the short stirrup program almost a year ago and this is the first time she is competing with the older kids. Older kids are split into three categories: Rookies (brand new riders that can only walk and trot), Go Getters (these kids can walk, trot, and canter), and Speed Demons (mostly teenagers who are very experienced on their horses). Well, Lorelai skipped right on by the Rookie group and she's with the Go Getters. I was a little nervous of this because it's also the largest group (about 36 kids) and the chances of her placing in the competition are small. She's the youngest by FAR in the group. She's only six and some of the kids in her age group are 12 and 14 years old! Mighty big difference.
Here's how they did...
Evelyn was in three events:
Equitation - 2nd place
Obstacle course - didn't place
Bareback - 3rd place
Lorelai was also in three events:
Equitation - 3rd place (I can not stress enough how awesome it is that she got this)
Barrel speed event - didn't place
Pole speed event - didn't place
They did amazing!!
Yes, Mom got to play too. I did alright. I got second place for a pole and barrel speed event and second place in an obstacle course trail event
Summer vacation is officially here! Evelyn's last day of school was May 31st, and Lorelai's was June 1st. Here are the pictures of their first and last days of school. You can really see how much they change and grow in one year. It surprises me every time!
June 1st was a big day for the Dai Family. Daddy has worked so hard and has been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel! It was such a big day and the girls were over the moon to do the honors of pinning on his new rank!
The girls attended a super hero birthday party. Such a cute party idea. The kids all had to go to super hero "training school". This is Lorelai maneuvering through the "laser" field
Super hero Lorelai jumping through the ring of fire!
Evelyn's turn... no regard for her own safety!
Definitely a girly-girl. Applying her make up
...and possibly poking her eye out in the process
"helping" Momma make the beds
Scarlet is calling her Auntie. Don't mind the rash...both her and Joseph developed Hand Foot and Mouth. Fun times
hanging out at the gymnastics gym
Mother's Day with my little loves
This little guy turned 8 months old on May 14th
Evelyn is putting Scarlet to sleep. Not sure what's going on here...
School year is almost done. This little gal is getting ready for pre-kindergarten next year!
Joseph's very first ride in a shopping cart
Well that was fast! Just like that, he's pulling to stand.
This is how Moms work out. Baby in a walker, kids riding bikes...do what you gotta do and fit it in where you can!
