Trick-or-Treating at the Zoo!

The Zoo has a big Halloween party on select days in October.  We didn't go last year but decided to give it a try.  I didn't realize just how big of a party it was!  The zoo closed early to regular guests and reopened at 5pm for trick-or-treaters who had special party tickets.  There were tons of characters to meet and the girls loved getting all the candy.  The characters weren't as great as Disney World (obviously) but they were still awestruck.  The zoo was decorated beautifully and had different themes spread throughout....Fairy tale land that had a bunch of Disney princesses and characters, a Dinosaur area, a super hero land, etc etc etc...

It was actually an abnormally hot day today.  Lorelai is going to be Darth Vader (of course!) for Halloween but I thought it'd be too hot today to wear that costume considering its long sleeves, all black, and has a mask.  She dressed up as Princess Sophia instead.  Evelyn was Cinderella.  Here they are, meeting Elsa!

Not the best Cinderella impersonator, but Evelyn loved that they were dressed the same.

Evelyn and Lorelai loved these giant, blow up dinosaurs

A little scary...but very cool!

The girls got to meet the Toy Story gang (Woody, Jessie, and Buzz)

Captain Hook and Peter Pan.  Evelyn was busy eating candy and wasn't too keen on standing next to the pirate

When I saw the Star Wars characters, I kind of wished I had dressed Lorelai as Darth Vader.  She screamed with glee when she saw him.  I told him, "Darth Vader is her favorite!" and he replied, "...as it should be!" I explained that Lorelai was going to be Darth Vader for Halloween and he told her, "Enjoy your time on the dark side!"  He sounded just like him!

This meet and greet was probably one of my most embarrassing moments as a parent.  Evelyn loves Ariel.  She's probably her favorite princess.  She ran right up to her, because she was so excited, and stomped all over her tail.  Then she grabbed at her hair (I think she just liked the red).  To top it off, after Evelyn gave Ariel a hug, she grabbed her seashell bra and then tried to look down her shirt to check for "Baby's milk?"  ...Time to go, Evelyn!!!

The girls were asked to do "super poses" so I think Evelyn is trying to do spider fingers like Spiderman

Pumpkin patch...take 3!!

Another day at the farm!

Lorelai calls them, "her goat friends"

Evelyn enjoyed feeding the chickens and how they pecked the food our of her hands

"Yay!  Daddy, I did it!"
We decided to tackle the big corn maze.  There's a challenge in this maze to see if you can find all the pieces to T. Wister's house!  The girls did pretty well!  Below are pictures of all the items they found.

Lorelai liked to lead the pack and pick the direction we went.  She got really excited whenever she found an item!

My sweet, little pumpkin having fun during her very first Halloween season.  And She's wearing Lorelai's old Halloween ghost shirt.

All smiles with Momma on the hayride!

Just a box...

Honestly, the girls are pretty spoiled.  They have many toys to play with and they always have a lot to do.  But sometimes, a box is all they need for sisterly fun!  We actually kept this box up in our living room for about a week because the girls were playing in it so much!

Pumpkin patch...take 2

Another day at Crawford Farms...

We took on the corn maze today.  Which way, Lorelai?

Animal lover!

Lorelai was very interested in the goats today.  The goats came running whenever they saw her and she kept saying, "Mommy, the goats love me and want to pet me!"

Just look at that smile!
Evelyn went on this slide at least a dozen times in a row

There are lots of silly hay bales

Enjoying a nature walk with Daddy.  Scarlet loves being outside

Pumpkin patch...take 1

Fall is definitely here and with that comes pumpkin patches!  There are quite a few here in Kentucky and there's more to do than simply selecting a pumpkin.  Here are some pictures from our first visit to Crawford Farms....

The girls are meeting the goats.  They had a lot of animals in their petting zoo to include; donkey, cows, bunnies, goats, geese, llamas, and sheep.

Playing in the wigwam villiage

King of the mountain!

The girls are getting ready to ride the barrel train

Down the mega slide....
